The House
'Sourmelina' is a very old and original stone house with a living area of approximately 75 sqm and a plot size of almost 300sqm. It offers space for up to 6 people. In the spacious living room, there is a double bed and a single bed; the cozy sofa can also be used as a bed. The small bedroom is furnished with two bunk beds - ideal for children. Additionally, the sofa in the dining room, which lies between the kitchen and living area, can be converted into a bed. The kitchen and bathroom are simple but functional. A washing machine is also available and internet access via Wi-Fi is provided. The house is very comfortably furnished, and many lovingly arranged items remind one of how people lived not so long ago in such a farmhouse. On the large veranda and in the garden, there are the much-needed shady spots during summer. From the veranda with barbecue area, you can see the sea sparkling through the olive trees. The house is located off the main road and offers much tranquility, although it is not far from the tourist resort Stoupa, which can be easily reached on foot via a path away from the main road. A bicycle is available free of charge to guests. This house is also suitable for winter stays. Heating is provided by a wood stove and a TV is available for longer winter evenings. The house was completely renovated in 2013/14. Please also read our short introduction to the house.

Stoupa
The village 'Stoupa' is located in the so-called Mani region. An area in the south of the Peloponnese. Stoupa is fortunately situated on two beautiful bays with sandy beaches, has the Taygetos mountain range up to 2407 m high about 10 km behind it (as the crow flies) and is only about 100 km from Cape Tainaron, which is one of the southernmost tips of the European mainland.
In Stoupa and the surrounding villages, there are supermarkets, butcher shops, bakeries, laundries, pharmacies, etc. and also a German-speaking doctor. For more specific needs, Kalamata is easily reachable by public transport.
The selection of tavernas is wide and many establishments offer free Wi-Fi (WLAN) for internet access. By appointment, the local private travel agency Stephan Bartholomä - formerly 'Zorbas' - is available for advice and assistance. Cars, mopeds, or bicycles can be rented locally.
Many interesting excursions, sightseeing, as well as small and large hikes, partly guided, are possible.
Thanks to the Mediterranean climate, temperatures are usually quite comfortable even in winter.
